Karting in Victoria COVID restriction changes

MESSAGE TO KARTING VICTORIA AND CLUBS

18 June 2021

Further to the Acting Premier of Victoria’s announcement on Wednesday, the revised Public Health Directions have now been published for both the Regional Victoria and Greater Melbourne Regions.

In both Metropolitan and Regional Areas, there are some pleasing signs for our sport and there is the ability to continue to move forward with a significant increase in capacity numbers.

Regional Clubs
Based on the revised Directions, Clubs can continue to host Social Karting Days WITH INCREASED CAPACITY (see below) before resuming competition on the scheduled Club Day weekend on June 26/27.

• They must be managed in accordance with the guidelines previously provided by Karting Australia; and
• There are no restrictions on where the attendees can come from if they live in Victoria.

For the sake of clarity, there are also no restrictions on interstate residents attending – however, they are required to adhere to the respective border restrictions for their home state upon return.

• A maximum of 1,000 people can be in attendance at any one time;

• The maximum number of people inside any building is 300 (subject to the 1 person per 4sqm rule.)

All Clubs must use the Victorian QR Code Check-in App, it is a Victorian Government requirement.

Metropolitan Clubs
Based on the revised Directions, Clubs can continue to host Social Karting Days before planning to resume competition on the scheduled Club Day weekend on June 26/27.

• All Social Karting Activities must be managed in accordance with the guidelines previously provided by Karting Australia; and
• The 25km radius limit for attendees is now lifted;

There are no restrictions on where the attendees can come from if they live in Victoria.

? For the sake of clarity, there is also no restrictions on interstate residents attending – however, they are required to adhere to the respective border restrictions for their home state upon return.
• The Maximum Group size is 20;
• A maximum of 1,000 people can be in attendance at any one time;
• The maximum number of people inside any building is 50 (subject to the 1 person per 4sqm rule)

All Clubs must use the Victorian QR Code Check-in App, it is a Victorian Government requirement.

All of the other Social Karting requirements that have been in place for many months must be properly implemented. This includes the use of the multi-QR code posters (see above for an example of the artwork has previously been forwarded to your Club).

It is timely for all Clubs to check and restock your COVID Posters, refresh your memories as to what are and are not permitted actions under COVID restrictions (e.g. food service standards) and to ensure that you have plenty of supplies of liquid soap in the wash rooms and hand sanitiser dispensers available at the Club.

We are working closely with Karting Victoria on monitoring the situation and they will be doing the same with Clubs with upcoming events.
