The inaugural 2026 Graeme Monds Memorial Challenge was held at the Gippsland Go-Kart Club last weekend July 11th and 12th, with 8 classes racing in honour of Karting stalwart and Gippsland Club legend Graeme Monds.
Graeme made an incredible contribute to our sport over many decades as both a fierce and highly skilled competitor in both speedway and karting winning the Black Plate on 2 occasions and the Red Plate at the Australian Kart Tiles multiple times in the twin engine classes, he was a founding member of the Gippsland Go Kart Club and played a pivotal role in the establishment of the Golden City Power Series and with his leadership at Club and State levels, Graeme was a respected and long-serving Karting Australia Official, admired by competitors and fellow officials alike.
In recognition of his tireless dedication, he was honoured as a Life Member of both the Gippsland Go Kart Club Inc. and Karting Victoria, His determination, sportsmanship, and passion for racing left an indelible mark on the motorsport community.
The inaugural Graeme Monds Memorial trophy was awarded to KA3 Senior Medium driver and long time karting media contributor of Kartsportnews Gippslands own Mark Wicks by Jeanette Monds.
Well done to all of the competitors who competitors at Graemes inaugural event along with all volunteers and officials who helped put on the event, we hope to see the meeting grow in the future years.
